Topics to be covered:

  • Introduction of Erionite: A brief overview of mineralogy and geography
  • Erionite exposures, toxicology, and epidemiology: An overview of occupational and non-occupational exposures to erionite, a comparison of erionite to asbestos and a discussion regarding why erionite is so potent. We will discuss cancer clusters in erionite regions in Turkey and Mexico, and we will briefly address study issues and/or data gaps such as those pertaining to genetic predisposition to mesothelioma.
  • Analytical chemistry issues associated with erionite analysis
  • Legal aspects of erionite cases. Case study: How to successfully defend a case involving erionite exposure
