Speakers:
George A. Kiser, Esq., HeplerBroom LLC, Edwardsville, IL
Michael Waxenberg, Esq., Waxenberg Law LLC, St. Louis, MO
Overview:
It is reported that well over 90% of all civil lawsuits never go to trial; most settle before trial. These settlements are often the result of their attorneys’ “discussions” about the merits or de-merits of their personal injury case, or of the piece of real estate in dispute or of the employee’s claims against his or her employer. Every lawyer has their own approach to negotiations, but there are some rules and strategies that can be used to give us all a better chance at grabbing the best resolution we can for our clients. This webinar sets out some of the rules of negotiation and explores tactics that lawyers can use to help tip the scales in their favor. In addition, the webinar explores the ethical implications of negotiating, a subject not often discussed in legal seminars.
